Revealed: La Sagrada Familia finally look on completion in 2026

The famous La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona will finish in 2026. The architect in charge promised nearly 150 years after the beginning of the work.

This will make it ready in time for the centenary of the death of architect Antoni Gaudí. He once joked that his client, God, was in no hurry to see him finished.

When Gaudi died in 1926, only one front ( The Native Face ), one tower, the apse and the crypt of Swas finished. Gaudi left only a few designs and models as he was improvising the design. Most of which destroyed in 1936, during the civil war.

Since then, 65% of the work is complete. With new techniques, the builders say that the Almighty will have to wait for 13 years to see its last arrows.

The La Sagrada Family attracts nearly 3 million visitors annually. Its entrance fee pays $25 million, in which the rest of the private donors receive gifts.

Critics have warned that with Gaudí’s original vision, its final design would not be normal. It was impossible that the architect could not have many problems.

He once said: “There is no reason to regret that I cannot finish the church. I will be old but others will follow me. It should preserve the feeling of work. Its life should depend on generations, for whom it is given and with which it remains incarnated.”
