Amazon Prime Day laptop deals: FAQs
When will Prime Day laptop deals begin?
Amazon Prime Day takes place on July 12th and 13th this year and that’s when Prime Day laptop deals from the retailer will ‘officially’ be taking place. That said, as with most big sales events, there are often plenty of unofficial sales taking place in the background, both at Amazon and at other retailers.
In the US, for example, we’ve just passed the 4th of July sales for 2022, which had a ton of excellent laptop deals to check out. In the UK, there haven’t been any big sales events but Currys, Box.co.uk, and Laptops Direct have had some great laptop deals in the build up to Prime Day. In short, things are already heating up, even if Prime Day itself is still a few days away yet.
Do you need Amazon Prime for Prime Day laptop deals?
Yep, to shop the ‘official’ Prime Day laptop deals at Amazon you’ll need to be signed up to Amazon Prime. As always, the retailer reserves its choice deals on the day for those who are either signed up. The good news is, however, is that there’s an Amazon Prime free trial that you can sign up to all year round, which will give you full access over Prime Day free of charge.
It’s also worth remembering that, while Prime Day laptop deals will only be taking place at Amazon officially, there will be plenty other retailers looking to get in on the action. Best Buy, Walmart, Dell, HP, and Currys are just a few excellent alternate retailers to check out over Prime Day. Better yet still, most of the Prime Day adjacent laptop deals found at these retailers won’t require any form of membership.
Amazon Prime Day laptop deals: what to expect
Aside from Black Friday or Cyber Monday, Amazon Prime Day is perhaps the biggest online sale event of the year. Interestingly, the event has gotten so large now that you can expect plenty other retailers – not just Amazon – to be price matching or even offering their own laptop deals over the two-day event.
In regards to price cuts, regardless of whether you’re looking for a super basic machine for daily streaming and browsing or a high-end ultrabook, we’re expecting some of the best prices all year to fall over Amazon Prime. As you’d imagine with a category as vast and deep as laptops, there’s not one particular model or type of machine that stands out as being exclusively tied to Prime Day as a good buy.
There are a few exceptions to this, however. Amazon tends to offer the best prices on Apple laptops, so if you’re on the hunt for a MacBook Air or Pro then it’s definitely worth checking in over Prime Day. HP and Dell are also great choices if you’re looking for a Windows laptop in the lower to mid-price brackets. Walmart, Best Buy, and Currys also do great cheaper Windows laptops as well as some of the cheapest Chromebooks you’ll find anywhere.
