Refresh

Good morning/afternoon/evening, Netflix fans! And welcome to TechRadar’s live blog for Tudum 2022, the latest installment in Netflix’s global fan event.

For next three hours, I’ll be bringing you every major announcement, trailer reveal, exclusive news drop, and more about your favorite Netflix movies and TV shows.

I’m expecting plenty to be revealed during the US, UK, and European portion of the event, which kicks off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST. How about some news about The Witcher season 3? Or You season 4? Or how about some information on Netflix’s forthcoming slate of movies, including Knives Out 2? There’s a lot we can see and hear about in the next few hours.

So, grab yourself a drink and some snacks, and join me as we find out what Netflix has up its sleeve.

While we wait for the US, UK, and European part of Tudum 2022 to start, Netflix has already made a couple of big announcements concerning some of its most beloved shows.

Earlier today, the Korean and Indian portions of Tudum 2022 were held, and there were a few notable reveals during the Korean section in particular.

Netflix announced that a second season of Hellbound (opens in new tab) was on its way, while a Tudum exclusive clip for Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area Part 2 (opens in new tab) was also debuted. The only ‘big’ announcement was the release of deleted scene from Squid Game season 1, which you can view above. Yeah, I would have liked to have seen some Squid Game season 2 news, too, but I’ll take what I can get.

Of course, we have an idea of which Netflix films and TV series will be part of proceedings. Netflix revealed the entire schedule for Tudum 2022’s US, UK, and European presentation on Twitter – see above – so you and I already know what to expect.

What you don’t know, however, is what will be shown. I’ve been given a sneek peak at some of the announcements that’ll be made at this year’s Tudum event and, without spoiling anything, I think a lot of Netflix fans will be happy with what’ll be revealed. But hey, you’ll ultimately be the judge of that.

Alright, it’s time! Netflix’s main presentation at Tudum 2022 starts…now!

And we open with a montage of the 200-plus directors, actors, and other talent getting ready to deliver their specific movie and TV show presentations.

First up, it’s Millie Bobby Brown. That’s right – she of Stranger Things and Enola Holmes fame. And she brought the first trailer for Enola Holmes 2 with her, which you can watch above.

If nothing else, it looks pretty fun! Enola Holmes 2 is coming to Netflix on November 4 so, there’s time to check out the first film before it arrives. Read more about Enola Holmes 2’s official teaser in our extended news story.

Next up, Gal Gadot’s new Netflix movie. It’s called Heart of Stone and it’s coming sometime in 2023.

The action thriller, which also stars 50 Shades of Grey’s Jamie Dornan, looks like a cross between James Bond and The Gray Man, the latter of which Netflix released earlier this year and became one of its biggest hit movies.

You can watch a behind-the-scenes featurette for Heart of Stone above, which seems like it’ll make for an enjoyable watch next year. Let’s just hope it doesn’t become another one of Netflix’s average, forgettable original flicks.

Now we’re watching Bridgerton pair Luke Newton and Claudia Jessie paint portraits of each other. Aren’t we lucky…

But wait, there’s more! Nichola Cloughlan has just revealed the plot synopsis and first title for Bridgerton season 3. The next entry’s first episode is called ‘Out of the Shadows’. Unfortunately, there’s no word on when season 3 will be with us. Filming only began recently, to be fair, so I wouldn’t expect to see it until late 2023.

That’s not the only news concerning Bridgerton, though. We’ve learned more about Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which acts as an origin story for, well, Queen Charlotte, who appeared in seasons 1 and 2. Executive producer Shonda Rhimes showed up to debut the first clip from Queen Charlotte’s prequel series, too, which you can watch above.

Now this is one I’m really looking to. The new cast members for Shadow and Bone season 2 just debuted the first looks at their characters, before Jessie Mei Li and Ben Barnes crashed the party to give us our first-ever look at the fantasy series’ next season. And it. Looks. Awesome.

Check it out above! And then read our Shadow and Bone season 2 teaser news story to learn more about what you’ve just watched.

The Crown season 5 is another highly anticipated show that many of us have been waiting for, and Netflix just dropped a first teaser and an official release date for the drama centered around Britain’s royal family.

The Crown’s next season will be with us on November 9. Mark your calendars now and then read our article on more concerning The Crown season 5.

Emily in Paris season 3 is expected to be another big hitter, and we’ve just seen our first teaser for the show’s next installment. It’s also coming on December 21, so who’s ready for a wintry trip to Paris?

A brief update from The Old Guard 2 cast, who are still filming the sequel, and then onto more about Netflix’s Wednesday Addams TV show.

Yesterday, we learned that it’s coming on November 23, but Netflix dropped an exclusive clip to whet our appetite before it debuts later this year. Watch the clip above and then read our Wednesday Addams teaser story for more details.

I was Manifest-ing a first trailer for the show’s fourth season before Tudum 2022, and my prayers have been answered!

Not only that, but we’ve been given a launch date for Manifest season 4, too. Well, season 4 part 1 anyway. The first batch of episodes will drop on November 4. Get your boarding passes ready, gang.

Game of Thrones‘ showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have just revealed the first information about 3 Body Problem, a keenly anticipated and ambitious sci-fi series (based on Liu Cixin’s novels) coming exclusively to Netflix soon.

Production has just wrapped on 3 Body Problem’s first season and the cast and crew have certainly piqued my interest with what they told us at Tudum 2022. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint.

It’s Jason Momoa! The Aquaman star has just given us a sneek peak at Slumberland, the fantasy-adventure Netflix film that arrives in time for Thanksgiving.

It certainly looks beautiful and it looks like Momoa and co-star Marlow Barkley have solid chemsitry. You can watch the exclusive clip above, before reading our Slumberland clip article for more information on what to expect from the family friendly flick.

Never Have I Ever… seen this show. Yes, I hold my hands up and say I’ve never seen the coming-of-age comedy-drama series. But hey, it sounds like I should.

Anyway, the cast of Never Have I Ever are coming back back for a fourth and final season sometime in 2023. I guess we’ll hear more about when that’ll be, erm, next year.

When it rains, it pours – and, in true stormy fashion, Aidan Gallagher and Emmy Raver-Lampman from The Umbrella Academy are here to present a blooper reel of the show’s third season.

The superhero series is also returning for a fourth and final season. Filming hasn’t started yet, but hopefully production will begin sometime next year. I wasn’t a big fan of The Umbrella Academy season 3 – the first and second seasons were better, in my view – but I’ll still be sad when this show ends. I want my annual fix of comedy-style dance numbers, darn it.

An amusing back and forth between Reece Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher now, with the duo confirming that their rom-com film Your Place or Mine will drop on February 10, 2023.

We’ve already seen one Pinocchio film this year with Disney’s live-action remake landing on Disney Plus earlier in September. Now, Netflix is bringing out its own version of the classic fairytale.

Guillermo del Toro will deliver a stop-motion Pinocchio movie later this year, and we’ve been given a behind-the-scenes look at how much work has gone into this fascinating project. It looks absolutely brilliant, so I’ll certainly be checking it out this December.

Next, we’re getting another look at Entergalactic, Kid Cudi and Kenya Barris’ animated series, which lands on Netflix on September 30.

It’s a show that I’ve previously compared to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s animation style. Based on this new featurette, it seems like Entergalactic has takena fair amount of inspiration from that superhero film, even if it has its own distinct aesthetic.

If you want to find out more about Entergalactic, Netflix released a ‘making of’ featurette earlier this week, which you can view above.

A quick round-up of some other announcements now.

Noah Centineo revealed the title of his upcoming Netflix show. It’s called The Recruit and it’s dropping on December 16.

Meanwhile, Pedro Alonso (Berlin in Money Heist) chatted to Álex Pina about La Casa De Papel: Berlin, which sounds like it’ll be similar in tone and style to other Money Heist entries.

Following the Entergalactic portion of the presentation, we also got a sneek peak at The Redeem Team, the incredible, real-life story of the 2008 US men’s Olympic basketball team that had everything to lose.

Jennifer Lopez’s latest movie, titled The Mother, just got a first-look teaser at Tudum 2022, too. It’s coming to Netflix in May 2023. And she looks riiiiiipped. I won’t be messing with Lopez while she’s in this kind of shape. No sir.

Here’s one that I think a lot of you have been waiting for: news on You season 4. At. Long. Last.

The hit show’s next entry finally has a release date – or, rather, two release dates. You season 4 drops in two parts early next year, with part coming on February 10, 2023. Season 4 part 2 lands exactly one month later on March 10. Check out the teaser above and then read our You season 4 launch date announcement story for more.

This looks like a typically creepy Ryan Murphy project. The Watcher, a brand-new thriller from the mind behind American Horror Story, is coming to Netflix on October 13. Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, and Jennifer Coolidge are among the series’ all-star cast. Don’t watch this one with the lights off.

Fiiiiiinally! Some official news on The Witcher: Blood Origin, the first spin-off show in Netflix’s Witcher-Verse.

Sophia Brown, Michelle Yeoh, and Laurence O’Fuarain are here to talk about some interesting facts about Blood Origin – and a new cast member! Minnie Drive has just been announced as part of the cast. Driver didn’t disclose who she’s playing, but it sounds like someone really important.

The show has also received a long overdue update on its release date. Blood Origin is coming December 25. Read our Blood Origin release date story for more details.

Extraction 2 news now. Chris Hemsworth has just introduced a behind-the-scenes peek at the forthcoming action film, which you can see above. Read our Extraction 2 story for more on what to expect from the flick, too.

Valhalla awaits. Vikings: Valhalla season 2 just got a first look at Tudum 2022, with Leif, Freydis, and Harald retreating to a beach to protect some people from Olaf and his army. Before Olaf’s forces can kill everyone, though, someone comes to the trio’s aid… interesting.

Unfortunately, no release date was revealed alongside the clip. Here’s hoping it won’t be long before we find out for sure.

The creators of Dark, one of the most underrated Netflix shows ever, are bringing a new show out soon, too. The mind-bending 1899 is coming on November 17.

Oh ho ho, this one looks like an absolute riot. They Cloned Tryone, a pulpy mystery caper movie starring Jamie Foxx, John Boyega, and Teyonah Parris, just got its first trailer. And it looks hilariously brilliant.

Check out the trailer above and then read our They Cloned Tryone story for more details on what it’s about.

BIG WITCHER NEWS, PEOPLE! Henry Cavill has just announced that The Witcher season 3 is coming in summer 2023. That’s right, we don’t have to wait until late 2023 for the hit fantasy show’s next season to arrive. Check out more about season 3 in our release date article.

Meanwhile, co-stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allen have given us a behind-the-scenes look at season 3’s production.

Lupin Part 3 just got its first teaser as well. No release date was given for the show’s return, but we’re sure Assane will be creeping up on us with an announcement on that front soon.

The Squid Game gang just turned up to give us the briefest of updates on Squid Game season 2. In short: it’s in production. I already knew about that – as did you, most likely – but it’s still good to hear it from the cast and crew themselves.

The group also showed the unreleased Squid Game season 1 clip that debuted during Tudum 2022’s Korean presentation, plus a quick glimpse at Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area. You can see those trailers in the intro to this live blog.

After a short look at Netflix’s videogame collection – smart move to put it in the middle of their movies and TV shows announcements, eh? – we’re back to Netflix’s bread and butter.

Picking things back up, we’ve just got a first teaser for Dead to Me’s final season. The show’s last installment premieres on Netflix on November 17.

Who wants some Heartstopper news!? Well, it’s not as great or exciting as you think. Netflix just announced that its subscriber base – that’s you and I – will soon be able to use Heartstopper profile icons on their Netflix accounts.

If that’s a bit disappointing news-wise, don’t fret. Production on Heartstopper season 2 has begun, so maybe we’ll see this huge show return sometime in 2023? Fingers crossed.

We’re nearing the end of Tudum 2022’s main presentation now, but there are a few more surprises to come.

The first is for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Director Rian Johnson just unveiled the first clip from the sequel to his hit whodunnit film, which sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as the eccentric but masterful detective Benoit Blanc.

The exclusive clip shows the movie’s new colorful and eclectic cast of characters, so check it out above. Once you’re done, read our Knives Out 2 clip story for more details on what to expect from its plot and characters.

Outer Banks season 3 news now. The Pogues are coming back sometime in 2023, and the cast were on hand to introduce a sneek peak at the fan favorite series’ next season at Tudum 2022. If you enjoyed the first two seasons, you’ll love what’s coming next time out.

We’re nearly there, gang. Thanks for riding out Tudum 2022 with me.

Before we wrap things up, Kerry Washington showed up to give us an exclusive look at The School for Good and Evil. The movie, which arrives on October 19 – just in time for Halloween – looks like it’ll be a big hit. Well, for a few weeks, at least.

But hey, maybe I’ll be wrong and it’ll absolutely storm up the Netflix charts and stick around for a while.

It’s Stranger Things time! Just like The Umbrella Academy earlier, though, some of the series’ main cast are only here to show us a blooper reel.

Oh, okay, there’s a bit more than that. The cast are also on hand to answer some fan trivia questions. It’s a fun bit, if nothing else, and I’m always happy to see Joseph Quinn. I’m still not over what happened to him in Stranger Things season 4. Bring him back, please, Matt and Ross Duffer.

And that’s a wrap on the US, UK, and European part of Netflix Tudum 2022.

If you’re looking for more Tudum content, though, the Latin American and Japanese parts of the 24-hour global fan event are still to come. In fact, at the time of writing, the Latin America portion has already started.

So, what did you all think? What was your favorite reveal? Is there anything that wasn’t shown that you were hoping to hear more about? Tell me about it over on TechRadar’s Facebook (opens in new tab) or Twitter (opens in new tab) accounts. Alternatively, hit me up on Twitter (opens in new tab).
